2000

The beginning of the road

Creation of UNITY CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY (UNICS)

2003

Becomes a Category 1 Microfinance Institution

UNITY CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY (UNICS) became a Category 1 Microfinance Institution.

01/01/2009

Becomes Public Limited Company

UNICS became a Public Limited Company under the registration N° RC/YAO/2008/B/1310 of 11th July 2008 with the Registered Head Office in Yaoundé.

2010

Migrates from Global Bank to Banker’s realm banking software

UNICS Plc acquired highly performing and sophisticated online real-time banking software (Bankers Realm).

Implements the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN)

All Branches in UNICS Plc were interconnected through the Virtual Private Network (VPN) that enabled clients to carry out their transactions from any Branch at real time without any extra cost.

2012

Transaction Messages

UNICS Plc instituted both short message services (SMS) after every transaction in your account and Online Banking.

Share Capital Increases

UNICS Plc share capital moves from 360 million to 1 billion

2013

Classified 9th & 10th by the Ministry of Finance

UNICS Plc was classified 9th and 10th by the Ministry of Finance in terms of credits and fund mobilization respectively among more than 450 Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon (Source:DGTCFM. Bulletin Trimestrielsur le secteur Financier Camerounais N° 006/Octobre 2013).

2014

MINFI classifies UNICS Plc in its general classification of Category I Micro Finance institutions

UNICS Plc was classified overall 2nd among more than 300 Category 1 Microfinance Institutions in Cameroon.

Gained access to the platform of BEAC for check compensation and Bank transfer

Through our partnership with BGFI Bank, UNICS Plc was connected to the platform of BEAC for check compensation and Bank transfer to permit clients to clear their Cheques at our counters within 48 hours as done at any Commercial Bank, effect Inter Bank transfers and pay taxes to the state treasury.

2015

Partnered with UBA for ATMs and Visa prepaid cards

In the early months of 2015, in partnership with United Bank for Africa (UBA) and VISA Corporation, we have issued VISA Bank cards into the Market and installed Automated Teller Machines at some of our Branches with plans to continue to all other Branches.

UNICS Plc was accredited by FIDA

UNICS Plc was accredited by FIDA (International Fund for Agricultural Development) through their local partner DID (Développement International Desjardins) for the financing of rural agricultural projects.

2016

Accredited by COBAC & MINFI

UNICS Plc was accredited by COBAC and the Cameroon Ministry of Finance as a Category 2 Microfinance Institution with registration No.000007 MINFI.

2017

UNICS Plc becomes a category II Micro finance institution

On the 19th of January 2017, UNICS Plc becomes a category II Micro finance institution.

Share capital Increases

UNICS plc share capital moves from 1 billion to 1.6 billion.

2018

Gets uthorisation to collect CNPS

UNICS Plc was granted authorisation to collect CNPS contributions

2020

Partnership with UBA BANK for mobile POST

UNICS Plc Partners with UBA BANK for mobile POST
